Lacrosse Classified

Hosted by Jake Elliott and Evan Schemenauer

Tyler Pace, Mike Poulin

Season 1, Ep. 39

This week on the Lacrosse Classified podcast, Evan and Jumbo get right to business as they hand out this week's Stampede Tack's Weekly Report Cards. Tyler Pace and Mike Poulin join the show.

After the grades have been delivered the boys are joined by a Pure Vita Labs sponsored athlete, Calgary Roughneck and current Victoria Shamrock player Tyler Pace. Tyler reminisces about the 2016 Minto Cup at the Langley Events Centre, which is also the site of this year's Minto Cup and Indoor World Championships. We also discuss joining the Rocks at the deadline, Pacific Coast Lacrosse and went to expect next year in Calgary.

Up next is the 15-year NLL veteran goaltender for the Georgia Swarm and Peterborough Lakers Mike Poulin. Mike talks about his new contract with the Swarm, playing alongside Matt Vinc and what it's like to now be a family man and still chasing his dreams.

The pod wraps up with another hotly contested round of #WhoYaGott and some news and notes.

A special thank you always goes out to our fabulous sponsor Associated Labels and Packaging!

Duane Jacobs, Kaleb Toth: Lacrosse Classified, Ep. 38

Season 1, Ep. 38

On this week's Lacrosse Classified, we have a unique "A" and "F" in our Stampede Tack Weekly Report Cards that we are saving until the end. Duane Jacobs and Kaleb Toth join us.

Also, what's up with white nets with a white ball?

First up is Duane Jacobs, the general manager of the Six Nations Chiefs and assistant coach of the Iroquois Nationals at the upcoming world championships. Duane was recently inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the second time he has received the honour as his Six Nations Chiefs team was previously inducted. We talk about the Chiefs, the Nationals and what his message to indigenous youth is.

Second up is Kaleb Toth, head coach of the Nanaimo Sr. A. Timbermen. As a player, Kaleb won three NLL Champions Cups, two Mann Cups, a Minto Cup and a world championship, but is perhaps best remembered for scoring the final goal in Maple Leaf Gardens history with 1 second remaining to win the 2000 Champions Cup with the Toronto Rock. We discuss his championships, the crazy game last Friday which got his Timbermen into the WLA playoffs and look ahead to their first round match-up with the Victoria Shamrocks.

We also have another round of Stampede Tack's #WhoYaGott, where Evan and Jake had a horrendous week going a combined 1-7-2, news and notes and a new contest where you make your picks for #WhoYaGott and have a chance to win a prize from Stampede Tack.

As always a big thank you to our sponsors, Pure Vita Labs and Associated Labels and Packaging.

Kylie Ohlmiller, Pat Gregoire: Lacrosse Classified, Ep. 37

Season 1, Ep. 37

On this week's Lacrosse Classified, we hand out our Stampede Tack report cards and unfortunately there were far too many choices for both the A's and F's, so we have honorable mentions! Kylie Ohlmiller and Pat Gregoire join the show.

We travel outside our normal realm and have a special guest, and Pure Vita Labs sponsored athlete, Kylie Ohlmiller of the Fight of the WPLL.

Next up our Eastern correspondent, Smokin' Pat Gregoire is back after his Ironheads' magical playoff run came to an end.

Then we wrap it up with another round of Stampede Tack's #WhoYaGott and we examine the craziness that is the stretch run of the WLA regular season.

As always a thank you to Associated Labels and Packaging and Pure Vita Labs for their sponsorship.

Dan Teat, Dan Marshall: Lacrosse Classified, Ep. 36

Season 1, Ep. 36

In this week's edition of Lacrosse Classified, our Stampede Tack report card includes a hilarious F and a listener given A as Dan Teat and Dan Marshall join us on the show.

Our first guest this week is the head coach of the Brampton Excelsiors, and recent Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductee Dan Teat who discusses the Excelsior's season so far, the progress of his son Jeff who will undoubtedly be the #1 selection in the 2020 NLL draft, and his reflection on the game over the years.

Our second guest is Dan Marshall, the broadcasting voice of the lacrosse scene in Nanaimo, including the Sr. A, Sr. B and Jr. A Timbermen teams. We discuss the atmosphere of last year's President's Cup and the recent success of both the Jr. A and Sr. A teams.

We wrap things up with another round of Stampede Tack #WhoYaGott and discuss the recent NLL trades. As always, a big thank you to Pure Vita Labs and Associated Labels and Packaging for their support of Lacrosse Classified.

Regy Thorpe, Dan Carey: Lacrosse Classified, Ep. 35

Season 1, Ep. 35

On this week's expansion draft special edition of Lacrosse Classified, Jake Elliott and Evan Schemenauer recap the NLL expansion draft and speak with both GM's, Regy Thorpe of the New York Riptide and Dan Carey of the new Rochester Knighthawks.

Plus another round of Stampede Tack's #WhoYaGott where one of our hosts had a perfect week and we go through our letter grades which are dominated by an amazing performance this week in the WLA and an unfortunate incident in the RMLL.

As always, a big thank you to our sponsors Pure Vita Labs and Associated Labels and Packaging for their support.

Ryland Rees, Andrew Kew: Lacrosse Classified, Ep. 34

Season 1, Ep. 34

On this week’s edition of Lacrosse Classified, Evan Schemenauer jumps back into the co-host chair alongside Jake Elliott. We thought we had our Stampede Tack Letter Grade F all ready to hand out for player rentals in the WLA and MSL, and then events in Ontario changed that quickly. We also hand out our A to a team that is surprising everyone despite no household name players on the roster. Ryland Rees and Andrew Kew join us on the show.

This week’s guests are both top prospects in the NLL Entry Draft coming up in September. First up is Ryland Rees of the Burnaby Lakers and Boston Cannons. The Stony Brook graduate who plays LSM in the fields game was a surprise major contributor in Canada’s effort at the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Champsionships and was named to the all tournament team. He also won a Minto Cup last summer with the Coquitlam Adanacs. This summer Rees is performing double duty, flying from his home in British Columbia 7 hours to Boston to play for the Cannons to fly back to BC to play for Burnaby, who are in 1st place in the WLA at the moment. Rees also recently signed on as a sponsored athlete with our sponsor, Pure Vita Labs.

Our second guest is Andrew Kew of the Oakville Rock. Kew played his collegiate ball with DII Tampa and at a young age, led the Oakville Rock in scoring last season and so far this year, also leads the team in scoring despite missing a few games due to injury. The lefty forward is going to be a highly prized commodity in the upcoming draft, with draft guru Stephen Stamp having him projected to go #1 overall.

We then wrap things up with another round of Stampede Tack‘s #WhoYaGott, and there’s a tight three-way race for 1st in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League Junior A standings with just a week to go in the season.

As always, thank you to Associated Labels & Packaging and Pure Vita Labs for their support of Lacrosse Classified.
