He obtained great fame and popularity as a preacher until the Restoration, when he was ejected for nonconformity. Not withstanding the rigor of the acts against dissenters, Watson continued to exercise his ministry privately as he found opportunity. Nee founded the "Local churches." He became a Christian in 1920 at age 17 & began writing in the same year. In 1921, he met the British missionary Miss M. E. His knowledge was acquired through studying the Bible & reading various Christian spiritual books. Being born into an artistic & wealthy family, he received a good education which led to his holding prominent positions at Cambridge University & Parliament. As a student at Trinity College, Cambridge, England, George Herbert excelled in languages & music. He went to college with the intention of becoming a priest, but his scholarship attracted the attention of King James I. Herbert served in parliament for two years. After the death of King James & at the urging of a friend, Herbert's interest in ordained ministry was renewed. In 1630, in his late thirties he gave up his secular ambitions & took holy orders in the Church of England, spending the rest of his life as a rector of the little parish. He was noted for unfailing care for his parishioners, bringing the sacraments to them when they were ill, & providing food & clothing for those in need. Throughout his life he wrote religious poems characterized by a precision of language. Albert Benjamin Simpson, 1843-1919 was born in Canada of Scottish parents. He became a Presbyterian minister & pastored several churches in Ontario. Later, he accepted the call to serve as pastor of the Chestnut Street Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. It was there that his life & ministry were completely changed in that, during a revival meeting, he experienced the fullness of the Spirit. Eventually he founded an independent Gospel Tabernacle in New York where he published the Alliance Weekly & wrote 70 books on Christian living.
